Siobhán O'Higgins is a graduate of the Department of Social Science, Nottingham University, Post Graduate Diploma in Criminological Studies, D.I.T., Masters in Health Promotion, National University of Ireland Galway. She has been involved in research and teaching with the Health Promotion Department since 2002. Siobhan is a Sexual Health Promoter working with schools and other groups since 1990. As well as teaching and research within the University Siobhán facilitates 'Flirting, Dating & Relating’ workshops as part of the "Mind Body & Soul' programme run by Student Services in NUI, Galway as well as having developed and facilitating the training of volunteers for the WILL U? health promotion peer outreach programme. Siobhán is also a lay member on Mental Health Tribunals for the Mental Health Commission.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in Positive Sexual Health with a scholarship from the Office of the Minister of Children.

Our Postgrad Officer, Ciara, has agreed to live in a box for College Week to try and get her PhD written whilst raising money for charity and entertaining you. She is nuts, but that's why we love her. Watch as we lock her in a box outside Áras na Mac Léinn and see if she lasts until her coming out party on Thursday!

College Week - Rock the Boat Challenge


Yes it's that time honoured dance of weddings and debs up and down the country where everyone sits on the floor, with their legs akimbo swaying back and forth and side to side to the sounds of that classic number "Rock the Boat". The current world record stands at 820 participants and we are confident that the students of NUI Galway can easily beat this record whilst raising money for charity. Watch the Video!
