While you were gone...

...your campus may have turned into a bit of a building site. All of the ongoing work looks very impressive, and we can't wait to see the finished products!












First off (and above) there's the renovated Bialann, due to open on Monday 6th of September.












Then the Engineering building begins to look really impressive...












The new concourse entrance is fresh and modern, and you no longer have to dash outdoors in the rain to go to the Bialann.












They're doing something to the north end of the concourse (which means you can't drive but can walk through), and between the library and Áras de Brún.

























And last but not least, they've been revamping The Hub in Áras na MacLéinn, and the reception of the Students' Union. Phew.

Galway project could be Ireland’s favourite building

There are less than two days for the Galway Public to go online and vote for Ireland’s favourite building. A Galway architecture project is among the 55 projects on the shortlist for this year’s Irish Architecture Awards, which was recently announced by the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI).

, Gleann Ban, Galway was designed by DTA Architects and was completed last year. Now in its third year, the very popular Public Choice Award gives the public the opportunity to have their say by voting for their favourite shortlisted building. The RIAI invites the public to vote for their choice online here. Voting closes at noon on Friday, 18th June 2010.

Super 8 Film Festival for Galway

Super8 Shots it is an independent Film Festival, with objectives in promoting film as a small medium format. It is aimed at the film makers, enthusiasts, artists and musicians as well as the community.
